This type of flooring is a load bearing floor which provides a suitable, stable floor to carry office equipment, computer services etc. The void below is usually used as a service void and sometimes as a plenum to distribute fresh air.
A range of finishes are available for the face of the tiles, ranging from carpet to vinyl and polished stone etc.
Sheet vinyl and vinyl tiles are available which are primarily used in service areas, wet rooms etc. where a coved floor surface at the perimeter affords a better option for cleaning, spillages etc.
Carpet in the form of ‘broadloom’ and, or, carpet tiles can be utilised in different areas, e.g. a carpet tile may be used in high traffic areas and broadloom within the main conference room. A very large range of quality is available from contract grade carpet suitable for use in a factory office to deep pile carpet tiles, for use in a boardroom. A wide range of colours and designs are available.
